Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
Temporary Protected Status(TPS) is available to the citizens of certain countries that are considered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as unsafe, usually do to armed civil conflict, environmental disaster, or extraordinary conditions.
The Department of Homeland Security maintains a list of those countries whose citizens are eligible for TPS.
Approval for TPS allows nationals of eligible countries to remain in the United States (including employment and travel authorization) until conditions in the home country improve.
